Digital Switchover
We’re moving all our customers from the old analogue public switched telephone network (PSTN) to a fully digital network. We’ve already started. We plan to have moved everyone over before Openreach stop the PSTN (and ISDN) service in 2027

With Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC’s) reporting an increasing number of delayed or failed alarm calls over digital networks, the risk to telecare users is clear.
Recent guidance from the TSA www.tsa-voice.org.uk, estimates this failure rate to be between 2.3% and 3.6% with estimates from the NHS and a major Monitoring centre being significantly higher. Whichever figure is used, it equates to thousands of failed calls per month across the UK. As we move closer to the end of the network transition in 2027. The number of residents at risk from these failed calls will increase significantly.

The transition has begun already with many telecom exchanges having converted over to fully digital… Action and careful planning needs to begin now so that telecare and social alarm service reliability and safety is not compromised: that lives are not put at risk.” TSA www.tsa-voice.org.uk
Housing & Care providers must deploy strategies that will keep residents safe from now until the transition completes in 2027.
